Update: 7:30 p.m. Thursday -- Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $15,000 reward for information in the fatal stabbing on Oct. 21 of Samantha Woll, the president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue in Detroit.

The reward comes nearly a week after police released a suspect who knew Woll well and attended the same synagogue. The two had previously dated.

The reward may indicate that the investigation is proving more difficult than initially expected.

Report From Nov. 15

Several days after releasing an arrested suspect without charging him, Detroit Police issued a general statement about the ongoing investigation.

“The homicide investigation into Samantha Woll's tragic murder is ongoing," the department said on social media Tuesday. "Despite recent developments, DPD’s Homicide Unit remains committed to presenting a comprehensive set of facts for submission to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office."

"This crime reflects a common challenge in our line of work, when an arrest is made as the investigation unfolds."

Police arrested the suspect early last week after he made an incriminating statement regarding the slaying of Woll, 40. The man had previously dated Woll, and maintained a good relationship with her afterward, according to sources. He attended her funeral in Oak Park, according to a person who interacted with him there, and posed for photos with Woll at the reopening celebration of the synagogue in August following a $6 million renovation.

Investigators reviewed his incriminating statement and had some questions about the validity of it due to the circumstances in which it was made. He was released on Friday because of a lack of evidence, but not officially cleared. The man attended the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue where Woll was president.

WDIV, citing unnamed sources, reports that "the man remains one of the, if not the, biggest suspects in the attack."

At least one other person of interest has been interviewed, sources say.

"We appeal to the community for any information and appreciate your patience as investigators thoroughly examine every aspect of this case," police stated.
