Eminem and Matthew Hughes
Matthew Hughes, who broke into rapper Eminem's Macomb County home twice, was sentenced this week to 15 to 30 years in prison, The Detroit News reports.
The Macomb County judge also ordered that Hughes have no contact with Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, or be within 500 feet of the rapper’s home or person.
In May, a Macomb County Circuit Court jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before convicting Hughes of breaking into Eminem's Clinton Township home in a gated community in August 2024. It was his second time.
Eminem testified at trial that he was sleeping at the time of the home invasion, in a padlocked room in a secluded area of his house due to the prior incident.
In April 2020, Hughes broke into Eminem's home and was later convicted. He was sleeping when he was awakened by the noise of Hughes breaking a kitchen door window with a brick paver. Eminem got Hughes to leave the house, where he was met by security guards and held until police arrived.
In 2021, Macomb County Circuit Judge Edward Servitto sentenced Hughes to five years’ probation and time served. He was released from the Macomb County Jail after serving 524 days.
